Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ThinkBuddy LLC (“ThinkBuddy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information in connection with the Buddy AI mobile and web applications, websites (including thinkwithbuddy.com), and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

1. Information We Collect

  • Account & Profile Data: Name, email address, username, profile images, subscription tier, settings, and preferences.
  • Authentication Data: OAuth identifiers (e.g., Google Sign-In), tokens, and associated metadata necessary to authenticate and secure your account.
  • Content You Provide: Text inputs, messages, prompts, attachments, notes, and (if enabled) voice samples or recordings for voice features (including custom voices) via third-party voice providers.
  • Payment & Transaction Data: Non-card payment identifiers, subscription status, transaction timestamps, and pricing information processed by our payment partner(s). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Usage & Device Data: App interactions, feature usage, crash logs, diagnostics, device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and coarse location derived from IP (not precise GPS unless you share it).
  • Support Communications: Emails, tickets, and other communications you send to us for support or feedback.

2. Sources of Information

We collect information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Services, and from third parties that you authorize (e.g., identity providers and payment processors).

  • Provide, personalize, and improve the Services and your Buddy profiles.
  • Operate voice features, including custom voices, if you opt in.
  • Process subscriptions, payments, refunds, and account changes.
  • Maintain safety, security, fraud prevention, and integrity of our systems.
  • Debug, monitor performance, and perform analytics to improve reliability.
  • Communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support.
  • Comply with applicable laws, enforce terms, and protect our rights.

  • Contract: To provide the Services you request.
  • Legitimate Interests: To secure and improve the Services.
  • Consent: For optional features (e.g., certain analytics or voice features).
  • Legal Obligation: To meet regulatory and compliance requirements.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with:

  • Infrastructure & Hosting: Cloud providers and email delivery (e.g., AWS, transactional email).
  • Payments: Payment processors for subscriptions and in-app purchases.
  • AI/Voice Vendors: Third-party providers that process your text or audio to generate responses or voice output (e.g., large language model APIs, voice synthesis).
  • Analytics & Diagnostics: Crash reporting and performance tools.
  • Compliance & Safety: Authorities or partners when required by law, to protect rights, safety, or investigate abuse.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

6. Voice Features

If you enable voice features, your audio may be sent to third-party voice providers to create or play voice outputs. Do not upload content you do not own or have permission to use. You can disable voice features in the app at any time.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Services, for legitimate business purposes, and to comply with legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type and legal requirements. We delete or de-identify data when it is no longer needed.

8. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Data Transfers

We may transfer, store, and process information outside your country of residence. When required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers.

  • Access, Correction, Deletion: You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
  • Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format where applicable.
  • Objection & Restriction: Object to or request restriction of certain processing.
  • Withdraw Consent: When processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

11. California (CPRA) and Other Regional Disclosures

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain data sharing. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

13. Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are not governed by this Policy. Review their policies before providing personal data.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
